Our vision

Researcher are innovators

Our vision is to serve as a “partner for a better life” in Afghanistan, where families (especially women and children) and communities are empowered to protect and improve their health and social well-being. Where consumer awareness of healthy choices, and access to affordable social services is steadily improved and is increasingly sustainable.

We are working since 2017 to build our community, preach peace, ensure accountability, create networks, and minimize the distances between people with the intention of community harmony and prosperity.

OROD conducts informative research and is the basis by which it develops effective intervention strategies for influencing behavior change and for designing, positioning and promoting innovative activities. It helps to identify and understand the characteristics, interests, behaviors and needs of target populations, which influence its decisions and actions. Informative research is integral in developing and improving programs.

Community development activities of OROD are based on local needs which are identified in most cases by the communities themselves. It is here where the assessment and research wing of OROD comes into play. Community needs are identified through initial need assessment surveys, conducting applied research, gap analysis or other types of participatory appraisal approaches. Community development, to OROD, means sustainable interventions designed on the basis of the true community needs, owned by the community, and accountable to the community.

As women go up the ladder of education from the decision to a doctorate degree, the number of women educators decreases. According to UNESCO, only 30% of the world’s researchers are women while more women enroll in universities. This creates gender inequality in the field of research and gives less authority to women to share and to have active participation in the decision-making levels compared to men.  To decrease these gender-based gaps, the efficient tool is to encourage women and girls to be the knowledge generators so, their voices are heard. I believe we can do this, now.

Batol Hashimi MD, BA, M.Sc, the founder and Head of Operation

Amidst all the instability in our society, girls and women are consistently participating in and acquiring more education; they seem more motivated than ever. So what is our task under these conditions? It is our duty to encourage them, educate them, build their skills and confidence in their fields. Afghan girls and women need a little push to prove themselves as capable and useful members of society. It is time for all of us to do what we can to help them achieve their educational and professional goals
